The Accidental and the Intentional – Visual Art Installation

Danae Androni was born in 2002 in Athens. She grew up and currently lives in Elefsina. In 2020, she was admitted to the University of West Attica in the Department of Interior Architecture, a school focused on the theory and practice of architecture. Having chosen the field of architecture and design, she is involved both academically and independently with graphic design, as well as with painting—both digital and traditional. She explores painting intuitively and creates visual compositions or collages using a variety of materials, colors, and forms, shaping surfaces that revolve around the interplay between chance and intention. Her passion for the arts stems from a lifelong love for creative expression.

Artist's Statement:
A special evening unfolded on Sunday, May 21, in the courtyard of the Old Railway Station of Elefsina. As part of Elefsina 2023 – European Capital of Culture, and in collaboration with the Cultterra team and the project Mystery 66: Voices in the City, I inaugurated my visual arts exhibition titled The Accidental and the Intentional. This thematic exhibition consisted of interrelated works, each standing as a visual composition made with a multitude of materials, colors, and forms. Lines, colors, and shapes play a central role in depicting emotions and ideas. My painting emerges intuitively, responding to whatever appears on the canvas. Through many layers of paint and mixed media techniques, a balance is achieved that satisfies and captures the viewer’s attention.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover diverse approaches and immerse themselves in the thought-provoking and captivating nature of abstract art. The exhibition lasted seven days and concluded on Sunday, May 28. In the old railway station of Elefsina, among these abandoned tracks, the memories of my city unfold. Every arrival, every journey, every moment of waiting revives the passing of time, now coming to meet my own experiences. In this historic space, I sought to bring to life my emerging artistic ideas in a visual exhibition that now begins to reveal the early stages of a spiritual journey.
