Gentrifying Myself…
Gentrifying Myself…
A collective action on reimagining public space.
3 / 4 / 5 July
Suggested activity hours: 19:00 – 22:00
Location: In front of the amphitheatre stands
A title inspired by the walls of Athens and the well-known graffiti reading "I am being tortured..." ("Βασανίζομαι...").
Today, gentrification increasingly shapes our everyday lives, turning cities and public spaces into commodities. This action invites us to imagine a different kind of city: one that belongs to its residents, locals and migrants alike, that embraces diversity and treats public space as a shared common good.
In collaboration with the Athens Anti-Racist Festival, CULTTERRA creates an improvised environment using recycled materials and invites everyone passing by to become its co-creators. Together, participants will build, transform and redesign a public space according to their own needs, desires and visions.
What if public space were truly designed by all the communities that live in the city? Would it look different from the one we know today?
CULTTERRA is an independent cultural organisation based in the Thriasio Plain, Greece. It operates collectively and voluntarily. Through projects in public space, using culture, collaboration and inclusion as its main tools, it creates opportunities for expression, participation and meaningful encounters among diverse communities.
