gnorimeet the locals "ASPARAGUS PLUMOSA"
Untitled Comics & Zines
Asparagus has been creating zines to express her and the world’s emotions since around 2017. Now also comics! Recurring themes in her work include the destigmatization of vulnerability, self-awareness, the naturalistic element, body positivity, and the empowerment of communities and individuals, through a queer feminist lens. She chooses to make experiential works, while her comics touch on slice of life. She loves watercolors, inks, and pencils, and enjoys hiding something from the plant kingdom in her works—a habit she picked up from studying Agronomy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Asparagus plumosa is, after all, an ornamental asparagus!
Artist’s note:
Being given such immediate support and a space to show my work in the place where I grew up was very valuable. The project succeeded in its goal to approach local artists and make their exhibitions accessible, connecting them with the local community.
The people who visited my exhibition were both familiar and strangers, which helped spread my work further.
The Cultterra team was very cooperative and eager to provide me with whatever I needed to complete the exhibition, while I had full freedom in arranging my works!
