🏳️🌈 Elefsina is no longer keeping secrets!#2
Elefsina is no longer keeping secrets – and it’s louder than ever.
On Friday, July 12th, the annual celebration of love and diversity was held with great success at the Old Railway Station of Elefsina. The event, organized by Cultterra with the support of 2023 Eleusis and media sponsorship by “Voices of Elefsina” community radio, honored the local LGBTQI+ community for the third consecutive year.
The garden of the Old Railway Station was transformed into a vibrant and colorful space, decorated with pride colors and filled with homemade sweets. Participants also enjoyed a hands-on screen printing workshop where they could print the slogan “Elefsina is no longer keeping secrets” on their t-shirts.
Daphne Stasini from Voices of Elefsina radio, through her show “Rock Mysteries,” presented a live audio tribute to queer icons of the global music scene, while broadcasting the energy of the event live to the broader community.
Two powerful talks were held under the station’s shaded trees. Dionysis Antonopoulos, a local ethnologist and lawyer, gave a semiotic and legal presentation on the evolution of “marriage,” highlighting the new Greek law 5089/2024 on same-sex couples and referencing the landmark trial over the murder of Zak Kostopoulos. Following him, Lina Lachanioti and Christiana Gennata from Orlando LGBT and the mental health support line “11528 – DIPLÁ SOU” shared insights on mental health and queer community care.
The evening concluded with a joyful party. DJ angelchrisx set the mood, while visual artist Efroarts brought a live painting action titled “Paint Your Beauty.” The garden also welcomed collectives from Athens such as Antivirus Magazine, Queer Space Athens, and the local animal welfare group Adespota Mystiria.
💜 We thank every single person who showed up, stood proud, and made this gathering of visibility and connection possible.
