CULTTERRA in Aachen, Germany
The European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2026

Every year, the European Charlemagne Youth Prize aims to award projects run by young people that foster democracy, promote active citizenship and bring communities together. This year CULTTERRA was the national winner of the Charlemagne Youth Prize in Greece among 27 other national winners. The prize was awarded to an Erasmus+ initiative among CULTTERRA Thriasio Plain (Greece) and Durf2030 Kortrijk(Belgium) called, ‘From Disruptive Places To Hidden Gems’.

Over the course of four intensive days, we participated in dynamic workshops and numerous insightful speeches addressing the multifaceted challenges currently facing the European Union. We were given the invaluable opportunity not only to present our work but also to network with young people and other youth organizations active across Europe. The event featured inspiring keynotes from young entrepreneurs, astronauts, economists, health advisors, ministers, prime ministers, and other prominent figures within the European Union. We engaged in interactive discussions with various scientists, attended and participated in stimulating debates, and connected with organizations with which we hope to build strong future synergies. Through open dialogues we highlighted the importance of democratic participation and the active engagement of European citizens in shaping our shared destiny.

On a personal note, it was an immense honor and a particularly significant milestone for me, as a new member of CULTTERRA, to be given the opportunity to represent our team at this prestigious ceremony. It reinforced our commitment to active European citizenship and local empowerment.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the entire hardworking ECYP team for the excellent program and their hospitality. It had been four incredible, creative and inspiring days!

All the best,
Varvara Mavronasou
